About Us

The Ohio Small Police Department Association (OSPDA) stands as a beacon of support and advocacy for small law enforcement agencies across the state. Founded on principles of collaboration and service, OSPDA is dedicated to uniting departments with 40 officers or fewer, empowering them to enhance their capabilities and effectiveness in protecting their communities. Through our unwavering commitment to fostering strong partnerships and relationships, OSPDA serves as a platform for sharing best practices, resources, and innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of smaller departments.

At OSPDA, our mission is not only to provide essential training and equipment but also to amplify the voices of small departments within the broader law enforcement landscape of Ohio. By serving as a liaison with influential entities such as the Attorney General's Office, Ohio Criminal Justice Services, and Ohio Police Officers Training Academy, we ensure that the concerns and perspectives of small agencies are heard and addressed. Through advocacy, collaboration, and a shared dedication to service, OSPDA continues to pave the way for a safer, more resilient, and closely-knit law enforcement community throughout Ohio.

The Voice & Support For Ohio's Small Police Departments

Our Mission

The Ohio Small Police Department Association is committed to developing strong collaborative partnerships between small departments; 40 officers or more and relationships that enable its members to provide a high level of service and to better protect, serve and support the people of their communities.

We strive to bring you the most progressive training and education for professional development. The OSPDA helps provide cost effective training with the help of collaborative training and business partners.
The OSPDA helps provide needed equipment through donations. We have established an Equipment Library. Equipment is provided free of cost by need.

Small departments have not had a voice in the State of Ohio. Through our relationships we now have a voice with the AG's Office, the Ohio Criminal Justice Services and Ohio Police Officers Training Academy.

Our Vision

The vision of the Ohio Small Police Department Association (OSPDA) is one of solidarity, empowerment, and progress within the law enforcement community. Our mission to foster strong collaborative partnerships among small departments, comprising 40 officers or fewer, is the cornerstone of our vision. By cultivating these relationships, we aim to elevate the level of service our members provide, ensuring they can better protect, serve, and support the people of their communities.

At OSPDA, we envision a future where every officer has access to the most progressive training and education for their professional development. Through our collaborative efforts with training and business partners, we strive to make this vision a reality by providing cost-effective training opportunities. Additionally, our commitment to equipping departments with necessary resources extends to the establishment of an Equipment Library, where essential equipment is provided free of charge based on need. Through these initiatives, OSPDA seeks to address the challenges faced by small departments and amplify their voice within the State of Ohio, forging impactful relationships with key stakeholders such as the Attorney General's Office, Ohio Criminal Justice Services, and Ohio Police Officers Training Academy. Together, we work towards a safer, stronger, and more unified law enforcement community across Ohio.
